Craig Pankhurst – Founder and CEO
A Stroke of Luck is the ‘brain-child’ of Stroke Survivor, Craig.
Having suffered a stroke due to a dissection of his cerebral artery in April 2018, Craig decided to change the trajectory of his life and focus his time and energy on starting a charity with the aim of supporting fellow Stroke Survivors. That was when the A Stroke of Luck concept was born.
A former International swimmer, Craig has always been extremely passionate about health and fitness. Following completing his BSc in Sport and Exercise Sciences in 2003, Craig spent his time working in commercial leadership roles for some of the most respected brands in the UK. His entrepreneurial spirit led Craig to establishing his own business. Within 12-months of trading, Craig’s business had won the exclusive contract with Liverpool Football Club for delivery of their training programmes. It was during this phase of his professional life where Craig met one of A Stroke of Luck Trustees, Julie Harris.
Craig has always been a very focused and motivated individual who thrives on setting goals. He believes it is these traits which continue to support him in his recovery. Under the care of the Walton Centre in Liverpool, Craig continues to manage his rehabilitation to ensure he is best placed to live a positive and full life. And it is for exactly these reasons, Craig wants A Stroke of Luck to inspire fellow Stroke Survivors to embrace their new life.
