London to Paris Bike Ride in aid of A Stroke of Luck

In July this year, four friends will be taking on a challenge to ride from London to Paris in pursuit of raising funds for the UK Stroke Charity: A Stroke of Luck.

Ian Norman, Partner of Lightfoots Solicitors and Craig Perks, Director of ORAC are the men behind the challenge. Ian’s motivation is obvious as in January 2017, Ian’s Mum suffered a catastrophic stroke:

“Three years ago, my Mum had a major stroke and one week later, she passed away. This devastated our family, and it is not something which we will ever be able to fully recover from. In memory of my Mum, myself and three friends are on a training journey to complete a bike ride from London to Paris. We are hoping to raise significant funds to support A Stroke of Luck achieve their aims and objectives”

All four riders are in training and will be tracking their progress through a video diary. They leave London on 16th July and due to arrive at the Arc De Triomphe on 18th July. The route they are taking will be challenging and taking on the likely 13,500 ft elevation gain over the 3 days in addition to the overall distance involved. As well as the training diary, the team will be taking over the A Stroke of Luck Instagram page and will be doing live feeds.

“I am really looking forward to this challenge” says rider Sean Purcell. “I am a keen sportsperson but have never taken on something quite like this. But the challenge we face is nothing in comparison to the challenges that stroke survivors face.”

A Stroke of Luck Ambassador, Megan Giglia MBE said: “it is great to have Ian and the team so focused on raising money for A Stroke of Luck by taking on this adventure. Through my experience, I will be supporting their journey with some coaching tips, advice, and guidance, and will be willing them on to Paris.”

Lightfoots Solicitors are supporting Ian and A Stroke of Luck. Joe Middleton, Senior Partner has said: “It is impossible to ever say one charitable cause is greater than another as all are worthy in their own unique way. What makes this special though is the personal connection to Ian and knowing he can complete this tribute to his mum with 3 friends around him. Ian has never been one to shirk a challenge but even he knows he will need every bit of his mental and physical strength to deliver but we all at Lightfoots know he is up to the task and will be there in Paris come the 18th!!”

The team will be wearing bespoke cycling jerseys in A Stroke of Luck colours. The cost of these has been covered by the riders and financially supported by Ubiquity Group and Lightfoots Solicitors.
